One-day match

SCORES

Central Districts Under-17 captain Curtis Heaphy had a day to remember as the one-day phase of Nationals got underway in Lincoln.

Heaphy's unbeaten century at four helped chalk up a 300+ total for his side, with solid contributions from his teammates en route to 313 for five after he had won the toss and batted.

Heaphy reached his three figures in just 107 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes; going on to a run-a-ball 112*.

Earlier, opening batsman Finn Raxworthy (53) had helped CD get a fast start with his 32-ball half century, combining in a 64-run second wicket stand with James Rawnsley who was run out just shy on 49 after another good partnership with his captain.

Heaphy and Baylee Foote then shared a 96-run stand for the fourth wicket to pile the bricks onto a solid platform, and CD capitalised at the death after pushing up their run rate even further through the last 10.

Auckland's batsmen faced a big ask on Bert Sutcliffe Oval but made a good start with opening pair Aakash Prasad (33) and Saeed Moerat (61) putting on a 75-stand inside the first 16 overs.

Ronan Restieaux broke through and would also be responsible for two of a remarkable five runouts in the Auckland innings, captain Heaphy also involved in two of them and Finn Raxworthy also getting in on the act.

It only intensified the pressure on the Auckland middle order as wickets began to tumble regularly, 184 for four transformed to 187 for seven in the space of three overs.

CD was well on top and wrapped up their first win with 4.1 overs to spare.
