WHITE FERNS go back-to-back

Video Highlights

The WHITE FERNS have gone 2-0 up in their T20I series against South Africa after a five-wicket victory at Seddon Park in game two.

Scorecard

Captain Sophie Devine was once again at the forefront with the bat, scoring 61 in the WHITE FERNS pursuit of South Africa’s 119 after the home side won the toss and bowled first.

Maddy Green also chipped in with a valuable 23 as the WHITE FERNS passed South Africa’s total in the 19th over.

Earlier, the home side’s bowling unit stuck to their task well, eventually dismissing the visitors in the final over for 119.

Rosemary Mair (2-26) and Lea Tahuhu (2-10) both picked up two wickets a piece, while Hayley Jensen, Sophie Devine and Melie Kerr all took one wicket each.

It was Tahuhu’s second spell which shifted the momentum back to the home side, removing the dangerous pair of Dane van Niekerk and Chloe Tryon in her third over.

The WHITE FERNS bowlers then took charge, restricting the South African lower order in a fielding effort that included three run outs.

The series now moves to Wellington where games three and four will be played at the Basin Reserve over Sunday and Monday.
