Career-high ranking for Vettori

Daniel Vettori has claimed a career-high rankings place of third in the latest ICC ODI figures.

Vettori’s lofty placing is his best-ever in the rankings in either Test or limited-overs and comes after solid perfomances in the current Tri-Series in Australia.

South African veteran Shaun Pollock leads the bowling charts.

Jacob Oram’s blistering run of form has seen him claim a personal best 53rd in the batting lists, with Brendan McCullum’s 58th also his best-ever placing.

Tri=Series hosts Australia dominate the rankings, and are nine rating points clear of South Africa at the top of the table and have four batsmen in the top six of the player rankings, with ODI Player of the Year Michael Hussey leading.

Elsewhere, the BLACKCAPS’ World Cup Group C rivals Kenya have sent a warning out that they are far from minnows.

The 2003 semi-finalists lead the World Cricket League, taking place in Nairobi, and have two seam bowlers - Thomas Odoyo and Peter Ongondo - impressing sufficiently to gain top-40 places,
