Australian paceman Jason Gillespie has delayed his debut match for English county side Yorkshire, citing tiredness as his main reason for the decision.
Having flown into England following the Australian Test series of Bangladesh, Gillespie felt as though he needed a rest and consequently will not line up when his side faces Derbyshire..jpg)
Gillespie told AFP that he simply needed a few extra days to recuperate and ensure that his body is 100 percent right to get back on the field.
"I had hoped to get stuck in straight away but having just played in back-to-back Test matches before some long flights, I did not feel it was the best preparation," Gillespie said.
"After talking to Craig White and Darren Lehmann, I decided to get over my tiredness and make absolutely sure I am fully recovered in time for Yorkshire's Championship match against Warwickshire at Edgbaston on Wednesday."
After claiming Player of the Series honours in Bangladesh, Gillespie could be forgiven for thinking about the possibility of representing Australia in the Ashes series at the end of the year.
But the fast bowler is not getting ahead of himself, instead focusing all his attention on performing well for his county side.
"I would love to be a part of the Ashes series but that is a long way off yet and at the moment I am concentrating solely on taking wickets for Yorkshire."
