England's hope of tying its series with Pakistan did not look good at the end of the second day of the third Test, at Lahore on Wednesday.
England was only able to post 288 and at stumps Pakistan was 4-185. England's innings was most notable for Paul Collingwood's 96, his effort ending when he was caught off Shoaib Akhtar's bowling.
Collingwood attempted a hook shot only to catch a top edge which flew to Danish Kaneria who made no mistake at long leg.
England did strike an early blow when having the home team 2-12 with Matthew Hoggard having the wickets of Shoaib Malik (0) and Asim Kamal (5).
But then Salman Butt and Mohammad Yousuf turned the innings around by taking the score through to 68 before Liam Plunkett claimed his maiden Test wicket when he had Salman caught behind by Geraint Jones for 28. 
Inzamam-ul-Haq then joined Yousuf and they added 80 runs before Inzamam was forced to leave the field injured when on 35 after being struck on the arm by a ball from Steve Harmison.
Yousuf posted his half-century off 71 balls, including nine boundaries. Hasan Raza saw the score through to 180 shortly before stumps before he was out for 21, caught by Andrew Flintoff from Harmison's bowling.
Yousuf was unbeaten on 84 off 149 balls.
