Fast Bowling Challenge hots up

The search for New Zealand’s fastest bowler is hotting up this summer as secondary schools students challenge themselves to become New Zealand’s Fastest Secondary School Bowler.

The National Bank Fast Bowling Challenge has visited towns and cities nationwide in both the South and North Islands.

“The Fast Bowling Challenge is a great opportunity to unearth the next wave of fast bowlers in New Zealand,” said Gavin Larsen, Head of Sports Sponsorship for The National Bank.

“We were very impressed by the first day of bowling with speeds reaching 130 kilometres per hour.”

“I'm sure the Fast Bowling Challenge will continue to generate great interest both within the colleges, and also the wider cricketing public who will be interested to see how quick our young talented bowlers are."

The top six fast bowlers from throughout the country, accompanied by a parent or guardian, will be flown by The National Bank to Auckland to take part in a final ‘Bowl-off’ to see who will be New Zealand’s Fastest Secondary School Bowler – and also get to meet members of the BLACKCAPS at the event before they fly out for the West Indies to take on the world.

New Zealand’s Fastest Secondary School Bowler will win an all-expenses paid, half-day, personalised high performance coaching and analysis session by New Zealand Cricket, and an offer of 1 year player sponsorship arrangement which would include a full set of Aero protective equipment with bag and accessories. We would maintain contact with the player over that period and may ask for input into new product development and/or testing of new product design.

For the other finalists we would offer Aero equipment to the value of $250 rrp.
