Home ventilation specialist, HRV, has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with New Zealand Cricket for the men’s domestic Twenty20 competition, which will be known as the HRV Cup.

The 2009/10 HRV Cup will see the six major associations playing each other home and away for the first time prior to a showcase final between  the two leading sides.

With the added incentive of a place in the lucrative Champions League event, which features the world’s best exponents of Twenty20 cricket, the inaugural HRV Cup is set to attract unprecedented interest and media coverage. The profile of the competition has already led to the recruitment of international marquee players such as Tillakaratne Dilshan by the Northern Knights, Owais Shah for the Wellington Firebirds and Dimitri Mascarenhas for the Otago Volts.

The timing of the HRV Cup, which begins on 2nd January with the final on 31st January, ensures the full BLACKCAPS squad can represent their provincial teams and strive to lift the new trophy.

New Zealand Cricket’s official broadcasting partner SKY will be serving up extended coverage with a live match from every round and show a highlights package of the other games.

New Zealand Cricket Chief Executive Justin Vaughan said he was delighted that cricket was partnering with such an innovative and successful company.

“We are already looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic first year of the HRV Cup.

‘With the likes of Vettori, McCullum, Ryder and Taylor and the rest of the BLACKCAPS set to feature this season, the competition to be the first winners of the HRV Cup will provide some fantastic cricket and superb entertainment,’ he said.

“HRV is thrilled to be on board as the principal sponsor of the HRV Cup,” said Mike Perrett, HRV National Sales Director.

“The community has shown HRV so much support over the last few years and this is a perfect opportunity for us to support an iconic Kiwi activity. Our 20 franchisees around the country are really looking forward to getting behind their local team” said Perrett.
