Rutherford Wins Award

Dashing Otago batsman Hamish Rutherford has won an award in the lead up to the Airtel Champions League Twenty20 in India.

Rutherford has taken out the award for the best strike rate in the qualification period for batsman who scored more than 150 runs. Playing for Otago in last year’s New Zealand domestic competition Rutherford scored 220 runs at a strike rate of 167.93 with a highest score of 87.

The awards were presented at the Champions League Twenty20 Gala Dinner at UB City in Bangalore, a spectacular evening where Shaggy and Jamelia formed part of the entertainment.

Rutherford could not make the trip to Bangalore due to the Volts final warm up match against Somerset in Hyderabad. Otago Cricket Chairman Murray Hughes accepted the award on his behalf from Lalit Modi.

Other award winners included Anil Kumble (best bowling figures in a match), I Udana (best bowling strike rate) and Brad Hodge (most runs).
