State Championship Final Preview

The State Championship Final between the State Auckland Aces and the State Central Stags gets underway on Monday 06 April at Burt Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln.

Auckland are in the box seat after finishing top of the table and only require a draw to lift the 2008/09 State Championship Trophy.

Central will need to be at their best if they are to win the five day fixture against the in form Auckland bowling attack.

Aces pace man Daryl Tuffey is the season’s top ranked MVP bowler and third highest wicket taker with 23 at 18.91.  Second spot belongs to Auckland leg spinner Tarun Nethula who snared 25 wickets at 35.44.

However, Central have dominated the batting rankings this year with overall State MVP leader Mathew Sinclair at the top of the list with 837 runs at an average of 83.70, including four centuries and four half-centuries.
