We talk IPL, relay catches, last ball wins and returning to Lord's.

Tim Southee checks in from India

For the uninitiated, what's it like playing in the IPL?

It's great fun playing alongside people you are usually playing against at international level and getting to know them on a personal note and also learning from them and the way they go about their cricket.

You have had a number of highlights so far for the Rajasthan Royals, you must be pleased with your contribution so far?

I wouldn't mind a few more wickets but yeah it's been a great start for the team and to have won our first five on the bounce has been amazing so hopefully the winning ways continue.

Talk us through your part in the 'catch of the season' - is that one of the best catches you've been part of?

I think Karun [Nair] needs to take a lot of credit for the catch! As the ball went up and the situation of the game all I was thinking was how can I save this from going for six and in the process managed to give Karun just enough time to be able to take the catch. I think you see a lot more of it these days and players are almost expected to be able to pull those sorts of catches off now but it is always nice to be a part of something like that.

Then to hit the winning runs to beat the Delhi Daredevils, how was the pressure in that moment?

One of those situations I guess you use to play in the backyard when you need to hit the last ball for six or four and it's always a nice feeling when it comes off. I think the pressure and nerves are worse felt when you are watching and you have no control over the situation.

How much fun is it to come up against other BLACKCAPS during the IPL and to compete against them?

It's great fun to play against the other New Zealand boys, you don't really get a lot of chances to come up against each other so it's always nice to have bragging rights over the others if you do well against them. I'm sure Corey [Anderson] will be reminding me of the six he hit me for, ha ha! Also nice to catch up with them and spend a bit of time together in and around the games and have a bit of Kiwi company.

Tim put his name on the Lord's honours board in his last appearance there in 2013 with ten wickets in the match.

We are only two weeks away from the start of the England Tour; is that Test series in the back of your mind?

Yeah it's always been in the back of my mind and have been bowling a bit more in the nets to try and get my loads up and get a few more overs into the body so it's not such a shock when we go from 4 overs a day to 20+ overs a day also have to keep on top of the conditioning side so we are in as good a shape physically when we arrive in London.

The last time at NZ played at Lord's you picked up 10 wickets in the first Test, what are some of your fondest memories from that performance?

It's always a great honour to turn up at Lord's and everything leading into a test at Lord's has a different feel to it compared to any other Test with the tradition and everything that comes with playing at Lord's, it's something I'm sure all the guys are looking forward to. Yeah, have mixed memories obviously was nice to get up on the honours board but was disappointing not to be able to cap it of with a win.
