WHITE FERNS captain Sophie Devine etched her name into New Zealand cricket history when she claimed both the ODI and T20 women's Player of the Year awards for the 2017/18 season.
Since then the Wellington Blaze all-rounder has gone on to establish a reputation as one of the most powerful players in world cricket and is one of the most recognised female players on the planet.
In the 2019-20 season, Devine had a blockbuster year with the bat. She smashed her maiden T20I century against South Africa at the Basin Reserve, becoming the first cricketer (male or female) to score five consecutive 50-plus scores in T20 internationals (she finished her run with six 50+ scores!)
Devine captained the WHITE FERNS for the home World Cup in 2022, scoring her sixth ODI century in the opening match of the tournament against West Indies, and went on to lead the WHITE FERNS to a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Another product of the successful Wellington suburb of Tawa, Devine captained the Wellington Blaze to the 2019/20 Dream11 Super smash title - scoring 54 runs off just 23 balls in a rain-reduced final at the Basin Reserve. She followed her domestic success up the following season, hitting the fastest ever women's T20 hundred, off just 36 balls, for the Blaze against the Otago Sparks at the University of Otago oval in Dunedin.
Devine was first selected for the WHITE FERNS at the age of 17 as a bowler, and holds the very unique record to have batted in every single position in the batting order for the WHITE FERNS.
An all-round athlete, Devine has also represented New Zealand in hockey.
Devine is a regular on the domestic T20 world circuit having played for the Adelaide Strikers and, more recently, the Perth Scorchers in the WBBL, the Yorkshire Diamonds in the English Kia Super League, the Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred, and was recently picked up in the inaugural WPL auction by Royal Challengers Bangalore.
